Luther College combines liberal arts (humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences) with the ability to think deeply and work well with others.  The school has a campus-wide program for first-year students called Paideia.  In this program, students “think, discuss, and write about the questions and choices that matter,” according to Luther’s website.  The program has three parts–two during your first year, and one during your junior or senior year.  Other programs and centers at Luther include:

Luther’s first-year housing is split between three residence halls–Brandt Hall, Ylvisaker Hall, and Olson Hall.  Rooms are equipped with:

  • social and study lounges
  • wireless internet
  • computer labs
  • laundry rooms
  • kitchens

Students can explore the option of living on a Wellness or Quiet floor, if they prefer healthy lifestyles or quieter environments to succeed. Luther also has beautiful natural areas surrounding the campus.  Practically in the students’ backyard are:

  • Woodlands (students use for classes, hiking, running, etc.)
  • River and Floodplain (students use for environmental sciences)
  • Prairies (students observe for ecology learning)
  • Remote Natural Areas (forests, grasslands, bodies of water, etc.)

Venturing over to Luther should be a fun experience for you.  Don’t stress yourself out by trying to squeeze every last belonging into your car.  If you’re planning on a road trip, U-Haul moving trucks or trailers are both great options.  You’ll be able to pack everything you want to have with you for your college experience.  Have too many items for your dorm? Look into a storage unit for any off-season clothing or sporting equipment you may have.  Students at Luther are encouraged to do activities in natural areas such as hiking and kayaking, so you’ll need somewhere to keep your kayak!  Also, check out these college moving tips to ensure a successful move!
