Moving to Mesa, AZ

Located east of Phoenix and just southeast of Scottsdale, the city of Mesa is a vibrant one with hot summers and famously perfect winter weather. There’s plenty to do if you are planning on moving to Mesa, so follow these helpful tips before your desert adventure!

Economy

Mesa’s top industries include healthcare, aerospace/aviation, education, technology, and tourism. Boeing runs a facility in Mesa, and TRW Vehicle Safety Systems produces safety restraint systems for vehicles and other products. Moving to Mesa will present you with plenty of job opportunities to choose from, whether it’s in their major tech sector (Bridgestone, Ulthera, Guided Therapy Systems) or medical sector at Banner Simulation Medical Center (the largest medical simulation training center in the Southwest).

Education

If you’re moving to Mesa and are searching for schools for the kids, you won’t have trouble finding any–whether for elementary, high school or college. Mesa Community College is the largest of the Maricopa Community Colleges, enrolling more than 24,000 students. Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus, which serves science and engineering fields, also is located in Mesa. Both Mesa and Gilbert Public School Districts have schools in Mesa for pre-college students. Mesa also has an aviation college and an osteopathic medical school.

Transportation

U.S. Route 60, known as the Superstition Freeway provides a main route when moving to Mesa, as well as SR 87 and Loops 101 and 202. As for public transportation, the Valley Metro light rail system runs through Mesa and offers a smooth, sunny mode of transportation.

If you’re taking the moving truck or hauling a trailer there in the summer, take extra steps to avoid heat exhaustion or damaging your temperature-sensitive items.
