With the new year approaching, we’re all thinking about resolutions for 2015. Although common resolutions for the new year include getting healthy, loosing weight, and setting new goals, we have a few ideas that can get you started on the right foot. What better way to begin the year than with a new organized you! As the saying goes, “Out with the old, and in with the new!”
De-Clutter
Make use of all the cold weather and the extra days off work over the holiday season by staying in and sorting through your belongings. You can start by going through all those boxes tucked away under the beds or buried deep in the closet. Chances are much of those things are no longer needed or useful; they can be donated to reuse centers or even charities. Not only is this doing good for those in need but it is also letting you take one step closer to a new, more organized you!
Consider setting up groups to help you organize.
- Keep – These items will be needed right away in your new home. From dishes to clothing, make sure to have them separated from your other items.
- Storage – As mentioned above, you may have seasonal items that are taking place in your place. Marking these boxes as storage will help keep the clutter down.
- Donate – Find a local Goodwill or other charity that can use items you’ve either outgrown or no longer need.
- Throw Away – These items no longer have any value. Old or broken household items, torn clothing, etc. would fall in this category.
Storage
Maybe your issue is that you have just too many things that you aren’t willing to part with but don’t necessarily need in your home. This could be anything from grandma’s antique tea collection to Halloween decorations that you don’t need for another year! Really, just think of anything you would use seasonally. By putting this items in storage, you will free up so much space in your home allowing more room for items you use regularly. If this is the case for you, consider storage options. With so many options, there will definitely be one right for you.
Moving
What better way to a new you than a new place! This can be moving from an apartment to a home, from one city to another, or even across country! A new environment is always a great way to start fresh. Whatever your outlet to a new you in 2015, any of these ideas can really put you in the fast lane to a successful year!
