I absolutely DO NOT recommend this as a drop-off point. Not at all. Because I finished unpacking earlier than expected, I called at 4:00 on August 7 to see if I could drop off the truck a day early. Ron, the manager who answered the phone, sounded rushed and hurried, like he did not have time to answer my questions. I asked if there was a closing time (I assumed 5:30 because that was the closing time of my origin point) but he didn't answer that. I asked if I could schedule a time to come drop off the truck that day, and he wouldn't give me a time for that, either. Since he sounded so busy and frazzled, I asked if he could give me a time for the next day, August 8; but he said he would be just as busy tomorrow as he was today. He also said I could just drop off the truck with the 24/7 feature and leave the key in the office mailbox; but when I told him that U-Haul had NOT sent me a check-in or return link, he insisted that I had missed something. He made me feel utterly stupid and kept telling me it was either in my inbox or in my text messages. It was not, but he would not believe me. I triple checked both my email and texts to see if I had missed something. There was no check-in link. He told me he would return to the office in 40 minutes, so I figured he would be able to check me in manually with paperwork instead of through the app, which was not working. I filled up the gas tank and drove to the location, which was truly horrible. There's a U-Haul parking lot on the corner of Sheridan and East Hamden, but no office, and also no sign saying "Offices located next block over" or an arrow or anything. Just a parking lot. So I parked my truck and started walking around to try to find the location; but Google Maps kept switching locations so I wasn't sure where to find the office. There's a garage that says "401" on Hampden, but it was surrounded by trash and broken things and overgrown vegetation, so I didn't think that was the place. I kept walking and finally found the office, which was surrounded by a lot of U-Boxes. During this time, I called Ron to tell him that I had not found the 24/7 return link, and he hung up on me! He was so hostile and rude! I don't know what I did to offend him, but all I wanted to do was return the truck. When I found the office, he was grumpy and surly. He asked where I had parked the truck, and I told him it was a block away on the corner lot; so he told me to go wait by the truck. So I walked back and waited. FOR TWENTY MINUTES. He did not show up, and I do not do well in the sunshine, so I crossed the road to stand in the shade and called a friend to come pick me up. After my friend came to pick me. up, Ron called and sounded even more hostile. He told me he had been waiting for me at the truck (not true, because I waited for a long time there) and that he saw me drive off with my friend, and that he did not want to be held responsible for the truck since I had not left the key. I told him that I hadn't eaten all day (it was almost 5:30 by this point) and I would come pick up the truck after dinner, and take it back to my apartment, and bring it back to U-Haul the next day. I did not want to put extra miles on it, and I wasn't sure where to drive to find food anyway, in a new town. Ron got super angry and told me that if I didn't come to pick up the truck "this very minute," he would call the police to impound the truck. It would have taken me 15 minutes to grab some food; but I was so scared that I asked my friend to drive me back to the truck. I intended to take the truck back to the apartment and return it the next day, August 8, when I had eaten and when Ron might be in a better mood. But when I returned to the truck, Ron acted like nothing had happened. He processed the truck, sent me an emailed receipt, and took the keys. I left as quickly as I could; he is NOT a nice human being. It was the absolute worst customer service I've ever had with any moving truck company, and I've moved several times before with Penske and Enterprise. I will NOT be using U-Haul EVER again.

Horrible customer service you call and get shipped everywhere and nobody can answer and get you correct I spoke to a gentleman named Damon and the second person I talk to you had no record of them, but you sent me a survey to do an evaluation on his customer service need to figure out where your trucks are and if you say you’re gonna have one, have one available
Shelly BI was using the U-Haul app and I couldn’t access the return feature. I was redirected to the website and talked through it by one of your delightful reps.
